Ayush Seva Sansthan: A Journey of Social Revolution
Ayush Seva Sansthan, formerly known as Swami Vivekanand Yuvak Mandal, was founded by
Shri Prabhudan Chendan Gadhavi (P.C. Gadhavi), a social revolutionary from Kapurashi
village of Lakhpat Taluka, Kutch. Established in January 1992, the NGO has been
instrumental in addressing the unique challenges faced by the border area of Kutch.
Over the decades, the organization has actively contributed to disaster relief,
healthcare, and humanitarian services, including establishing the Swami Vivekanand
Multispeciality Hospital in Pandhro village.
"The purpose of life is to serve others, and this vision drives Ayush Seva Sansthan's efforts."
- Shri Prabhudan Chendan Gadhavi
Kutch frequently experiences natural disasters such as droughts, earthquakes, and cyclones. Mr. P.C. Gadhavi has played a significant role in facilitating various social initiatives through the Swami Vivekanand Yuvak Mandal. The organization received commendations for its exemplary social work during the Kandla storm in 1998 and the devastating earthquake in 2001, earning several certificates of appreciation for its contributions in the border area of Lahpat Taluka.
Due to the border location, harsh climate, frequent famines, and desert conditions in Kutch, a significant incident occurred in 2001 at the Verma Nagar Bus stand. A woman employed as a laborer in the area was compelled to give birth in an open space, lacking access to a maternity hospital, medical facilities, or transportation to reach Bhuj, which is situated 150 kilometers away. This event deeply shocked the entire region, including P.C. Gadhavi and his associate Mr. D.C. Parmar. In response, they resolved to take action for the betterment of their community in Lakhpat Taluka and conceived the idea of establishing the Swami Vivekanand Multispeciality Hospital in Pandhro, Lakhpat Taluka.
Mr. Liladhar Adha, the founder of BhojaySarvoday Trust, along with other donors and supporters such as Mr. Pravinbhai Satra, the principal donor, provided significant assistance in the establishment of the "Matru Baad Kalyan Kendra" in that region.
Numerous benefactors, including Mr. Parbatbhai Patel of the Mahalaxmi Group, Mr. Gopalbhai Patel of the SVCT Group, and Mr. ManjiBapu of RataTadav, along with various organizations such as Archean Co., Ultratec Cement, BidadaSarvoday Trust, Sanghi Cement, Nilkanth Group, Adani Foundation, NKT, and GMDC Nigam, have contributed to the construction of the hospital building. Their support has extended to the provision of medical equipment, medicines, hospital furniture, the promotion of medical camps, and assistance with the salaries of hospital staff. Additionally, Mr. Ibrahimbhai Mandhra, the MLA for Abdasa, has allocated funds from his MLA Grant for the acquisition of an ambulance for the hospital.
In 2005, the maternity ward was established in the hospital at a cost of approximately 50 lakhs, funded by various donors and companies in Lakhpat Taluka. This facility continues to operate within the original hospital building.
In the period of 2020-21, coinciding with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Swami Vivekanand Yuvak Mandal, with the support of numerous donors, established a COVID Centre within a hospital, thereby saving the lives of hundreds in Lakhpat Taluka. The medical services and hospitality provided were highly commended by various local and governmental authorities. During the first wave of the pandemic, approximately 268 COVID patients received treatment at no cost, and during the lockdown, ration kits were distributed free of charge to nearly 2,200 families in Lakhpat Taluka.
Over the past two decades, the residents of Kutch and Gujarat have endured numerous natural disasters and faced significant deficiencies in medical services. The Swami Vivekanand Yuvak Mandal has made substantial efforts to improve the living conditions of the people in Lakhpat Taluka. Mr. Hemendra Jansari, a committed member of the Swami Vivekanand Yuvak Mandal, has diligently contributed to various humanitarian initiatives and government programs, including Maternity, Chiranjivi, Manav Rojgari, and RCH, among others. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he organized nearly 200 medical camps, providing essential support to the community in the Abdasa area. His exemplary humanitarian efforts in the border region of Lakhpat Taluka have earned him a National Award for his outstanding service.
On January 3, 2021, the Swami Vivekanand Yuvak Mandal was integrated into the organization known as "Ayush Seva Sansthan," with the mission of providing accessible medical services to every family at a reasonable cost in the Lakhpat-Abdasa Talukas. In pursuit of this goal, Ayush Seva Sansthan, a non-governmental organization, resolved to establish a Multispeciality Hospital. A generous donation of three acres of land was made by the hospital's founder, Mr. P.C. Gadhavi, for this purpose, and the facility was named "Swami Vivekanand Multispeciality Hospital," located in Pandhro Village within Lakhpat Taluka. Ayush Seva Sansthan successfully completed all necessary governmental legal procedures and formalities, securing registration under the 80 G Tax Exemption CSR Act. All requisite regulations for the construction of the "Swami Vivekanand Multispeciality Hospital" have been duly implemented, and the necessary permits and licenses have been obtained from relevant government authorities. A managing committee composed of a dedicated and highly motivated team has been established, and on the auspicious date of September 17, 2021, the project for "Swami Vivekanand Multispeciality Hospital" was officially announced by the esteemed Kathakaar and religious scholar, Shri Rameshbhai Oza, at Narayan Sarovar. Bhumi Pujan, took place on December 14, 2021, officiated by Shri Vishal Shastriji, while the Khaat-Muhurat was conducted by Shri Vishwanath Joshi, a respected leader of the Brahma Samaj.
